1. Introduction to the subject

The discipline of electrical engineering is the study of electromagnetic phenomena, laws and applications. Based on the theories of electromagnetic field , circuit and electromagnetic measurement, it is deeply integrated with the disciplines of electronic science, information , automation and computer technology. It involves the generation , transmission, transformation and control of electric energy in various fields such as industry, agriculture, transportation and national defense. It provides scientific means and technical support for mankind to realize the acquisition and utilization of clean, efficient and safe electric energy. It is an important discipline for realizing national industrialization and national defense modernization.

The electrical engineering discipline of Harbin Engineering University is gradually developed on the basis of the ship electrical equipment specialty during the "Harbin Military Engineering" period, and now has the right to grant the master's degree in the first-level discipline of electrical engineering. The discipline shoulders the mission of personnel training and social service, and the school-running direction is closely integrated with the national strategy and social and economic development.

As a discipline facing the field of shipbuilding and ocean engineering in China, electrical engineering focuses on the research and application of power electronics technology, power system analysis and control, and power transmission automation in the field of shipbuilding industry, naval equipment and Marine development, showing a distinctive "ship sea" feature on the basis of the traditional discipline of electrical engineering. In recent years, this discipline has achieved a number of representative scientific research achievements in high-power Marine electric energy conversion technology, Marine new energy and energy storage technology, Marine integrated electric propulsion and simulation technology, low noise control technology of underwater vehicle propulsion motor and military high-performance power converter technology.

The discipline attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation. Over the years, with the financial support of the China Scholarship Council and other programs, it has selected and sent key teachers to first-class universities in the United States, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Japan and other countries for research and exchange. It has established a joint graduate training mechanism with foreign universities to encourage graduate students to carry out academic exchanges during their study.

Since its inception, the discipline has trained a large number of high-level professional and technical personnel for national and local economic construction. In the future, we will continue to adhere to the guiding ideology of national strategic needs and industry development, and build the electrical engineering discipline into a well-known and high-level electrical engineering scientific research and talent training base with distinctive "ship sea" characteristics.

2.Training objectives

1.Have solid basic theory, systematic expertise, advanced experimental methods and skills in the field of electrical engineering; Having the ability to carry out scientific research and the comprehensive quality to undertake specialized technical work in the field of the discipline; With a certain degree of academic and technical innovation ability, able to propose innovative solutions in the main research direction of the discipline.

2.Adapt to the needs of Marine power strategy, national defense construction and national economic construction, understand the development status quo and future development trend of power electronics, power transmission, power system and its automation, especially ship electrical, have a certain international vision, and be able to read scientific papers in a foreign language skillfully.
