Introduction

The "Institute of Intelligent Systems and BioInformation" of the School of Intelligent Science and Engineering is the predecessor of the "Institute of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems" established in 2001 and the "Institute of Biomedical Engineering" established in 2002. In November 2015, taking the reform of the academic organization at the grassroots level of the school as an opportunity, the School of Automation has deeply explored the connotation of discipline construction and refined the research direction of the discipline. The two institutes were merged to form the Institute of Intelligent Systems and BioInformatics, which supports the first-level discipline of Control Science and Engineering and the first-level discipline of Biomedical Engineering respectively.

There are 23 faculty members in the institute, including 7 professors, 3 associate professors, 13 lecturers, and 20 with doctoral degrees. 50% of the faculty members have doctoral degrees or more than one year of cooperative research experience in the United States, Britain, Canada, Japan and other countries. The teaching team includes members of the Teaching Steering Committee of Biomedical Engineering of the Ministry of Education, famous teaching teachers of colleges and universities in Heilongjiang Province, outstanding young people in Heilongjiang Province, and the academic backbone of young people in Heilongjiang Province. Institute teachers also hold important positions in a number of academic organizations and groups, including the Ministry of Education degree and graduate education evaluation expert database experts, national 973, 863 program expert database experts, Harbin academician expert service group members, as well as a number of international academic journals editorial board and reviewers.

Based on international cooperation, the Institute has established a strategic partnership with the "Center for Computational Biology and BioInformation" of Purdue University in Indiana, USA, and has established cooperative relations with a number of scientific research institutions such as the UK, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands, and has hired four internationally renowned professors as visiting professors to carry out stable and fruitful cooperation.

The current research direction of the institute is mainly focused on pattern recognition and intelligent optimization, bioinformatics research, biomedical instrument research and development. Has undertaken the national major scientific instrument and equipment development project, the national 863 major project, the national International science and technology cooperation project, the Ministry of Science and Technology support program, the National Natural Science Foundation, the doctoral research fund of higher education institutions, the basic research project of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, weapons and equipment pre-research project and many other research topics. It has won 1 first prize, 8 second prize and 10 third prize of provincial and ministerial science and technology progress, more than 50 authorized national invention patents, and published more than 300 academic papers. He has published 22 books including national and provincial planning textbooks, and the relevant teachers have also presided over provincial-level teaching reform research projects such as the New Century higher education teaching reform project of Heilongjiang Province and the higher education Teaching reform project of Heilongjiang Province, and published more than 20 papers on teaching reform. Won the school graduate teaching outstanding young lecturers award (Top ten) 2 times, other teaching recognition and awards dozens of times.

Academic research direction

The Institute of Intelligent Systems and BioInformation is a relatively concentrated institute of emerging disciplines in the School of Automation, and has a strong international academic atmosphere. Pattern recognition and intelligent optimization are the main academic research directions of the institute. At present, the human body identification technology based on fingerprint, vein, face, gait and other biometric features is in a leading position in China, both in theoretical and academic level and in practical application level. The recently developed molecular bioinformatics uses pattern recognition and intelligent optimization methods to interpret life problems at the molecular level. In the context of practical international cooperation, high-level research has been carried out in a number of international frontier topics such as pharmacoinformatics and gene expression regulation; Based on the research of space-related technologies, the regenerative environmental life support system (life support system) of Marine submersible is a new research growth point. At the same time, the institute also carried out fruitful research in underwater target recognition, large size welding robot and so on.
