Introduction

Institute of Marine Vehicle Navigation Technology, School of Automation, Harbin Engineering University (407 Teaching and Research Office) originated from the "Harbin military" hydrographic survey professional teaching and research office, after more than 50 years of development and evolution. Relying on the national key discipline of "Navigation, Guidance and Control" and the discipline of "Precision Instruments and Machinery", the Institute is the only university scientific research institution in China that comprehensively and systematically engages in the navigation theory and engineering technology research of Marine vehicles.

The Institute has the right to enroll master's and doctor's degrees in "Navigation, Guidance and Control" and "Precision Instruments and Machinery", and master's degrees in "Control Theory and Control Engineering", "Test and Metrology Technology and Instruments" and "Detection Technology and Automation Devices". There are also two post-doctoral research mobile stations, "Control Science and Engineering" and "Instrument Science and Technology".

In the past five years, with the joint efforts of all the faculty, the institute has undertaken a large number of high-level and innovative scientific research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation project, the National major science and technology project, the National security major basic research project, the General Armament Department, the Naval Armament Department pre-research project and various scientific research projects. Through continuous strengthening of basic research and the transformation of scientific research results, a number of representative scientific research results have been obtained. It has successfully developed a number of Marine high-tech navigation equipment with international advanced level, such as Marine integrated navigation system, electronic navigation chart system, fiber optic gyro strapdown inertial navigation system, high-precision radio navigation system, navigation training simulator, Marine environmental information processing device, Marine navigation data recorder, Marine wave monitoring equipment, and Marine information interface processing unit. It represents the highest level of domestic research in this field.

Combined with the characteristics of the university's "three seas and one nuclear" (shipbuilding industry, naval equipment, Marine development, nuclear energy application), the Institute actively carries out exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad, and strives to improve the ability and level of independent innovation. It has established deep cooperative relations with many universities and units at home and abroad. In the past five years, the Institute has hosted and co-hosted three large international conferences, participated in more than 100 academic exchanges at home and abroad, 32 teachers have gone abroad for study or study, 6 young teachers have gone to Russia for master's degree, 4 teachers have gone to the UK and Russia for doctoral degree, and 4 teachers have gone to the UK and Hong Kong for postdoctoral cooperation research. Experts from Britain, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Hong Kong and other countries and regions are invited to the school for academic exchanges and lectures.

The institute has superior scientific research conditions, advanced instruments and equipment, and has a first-class environment for the research of Marine navigation technology. At present, the laboratory covers an area of 3,800 square meters and the total value of experimental equipment is 69.65 million yuan. It is the "Engineering Research Center of Navigation Instrument of the Ministry of Education" and the "Navigation Instrument Engineering" engineering laboratory of Heilongjiang Province. The first-class scientific research and teaching environment has cultivated fruitful results. In the past five years, the institute has published more than 1,000 papers, won more than 10 national and provincial science and technology achievement awards, applied for more than 100 invention patents and national defense patents, authorized 71, trained 114 doctoral students, 558 master's students, and won 14 ministerial (provincial) teaching (material) achievement awards. The graduate students are widely employed in well-known universities at home and abroad, well-known IT companies at home and abroad and scientific research institutes in the field of aviation, aerospace and shipbuilding, and are generally praised by employers.

Half a century of vicissitudes, fifty years of spring and autumn. Guided by the concept of "unity, diligence, pioneering and innovation", all the teachers and students of the Institute of Marine Vehicle Navigation Technology are striving to build the institute into a domestic first-class and internationally renowned high-level research-oriented innovation team.

Academic research direction

The institute has been engaged in the research of ship navigation technology for a long time, and has formed the characteristic research direction of "high-precision inertial device and system technology", "Advanced ocean surveying and mapping technology and instrument", and "Modern ship navigation Technology and system". At present, the institute is divided into three research departments: Navigation Technology research Department, inertial Technology research Department and Marine Technology research Department.

The Department of Navigation Technology is the traditional advantageous technical direction of our institute, and its main research directions include ship equipment information, intelligent navigation, and intelligent maritime. The main research direction of Marine equipment information is Marine navigation workbench, track plotting controller and IBS system. The intelligent navigation direction mainly studies the unmanned ship mission planning system, performance-based navigation technology, and polar navigation operation technology. The smart maritime direction mainly studies E-navigation technology, Beidou precision positioning system technology, and intelligent ship information service system.

Inertial Technology Department is the core technical direction of our institute. The main research directions include new inertial device research, inertial navigation system technology and theory research, geophysical field assisted navigation method research, inertial measurement technology and theory research, multi-sensor information fusion theory research, navigation system performance evaluation method, attitude determination method and control theory research, etc.

Driven by the demand of modern ships and offshore platforms for Marine environmental information, the Department of Marine Technology Research is committed to scientific research in information oceanography theory and related technologies. Its main research directions include theoretical basic research on information oceanography, research on Marine environment monitoring and processing technology, research on Marine environment analysis and prediction technology, and research on Marine environment interpretation and application technology.
