The inaugural Hong Kong and Macao Doctoral Academic Exchange Conference of the Chinese Association of Automation took place in 2023

The Hong Kong and Macao Doctoral Academic Exchange Conference of the Chinese Association of Automation was successfully held at Harbin Engineering University on June 16th and 17th. This conference attracted participation from more than 600 young scholars representing over 50 universities and research institutes, including prestigious institutions such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, University of Macau, and Macau University of Science and Technology. The symposium provided a platform for these scholars to engage in fruitful discussions about the latest theories, applications, and future developments in the fields of automation and artificial intelligence.

The conference aimed to foster cooperation and interaction among young scholars in the field of artificial intelligence, thereby greatly enriching the academic perspectives and critical thinking of doctoral students. Additionally, the event contributed to the advancement and integration of new theories and technologies across related disciplines. Zhao Yu, Assistant to the President of the University and Dean of the College of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering, served as the conference chairman, while Lv Aiying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of the Chinese Association for Automation, and directors from relevant departments were in attendance.

During his speech, Zhao Yuxin emphasized that Harbin Engineering University would capitalize on the opportunity presented by hosting this academic exchange conference to further utilize its disciplinary strengths and facilitate domestic and international exchanges and collaborations. Additionally, in response to the strategic requirements of national development, the university would concentrate its efforts on cutting-edge and pivotal areas. This includes seizing new opportunities arising from technological revolutions and industrial transformations, advancing key technological components, and reinforcing strategic technological capabilities. These measures are aimed at fostering self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology, while actively contributing to the high-quality development of automation and intelligent technology.
