Professor Weimin Huang received his bachelor's, Master's and Doctor's degrees in radio physics from Wuhan University in 1995, 1997 and 2001 respectively. He then received a Master's degree in electrical engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's, Canada, and completed postdoctoral research
From 2008 to 2010, he worked as a design engineer at Rutter Corporation in St. John's, Canada. In 2010, he joined the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Current Professor (tenured Professor) His research interests include ocean remote sensing using high-frequency ground wave radar, X-band navigation radar, synthetic aperture radar, and all-navigation satellite system reflected signals. He has published more than 300 research papers
Professor Weimin Huang was Co-chair of the Technical Committee of the EEE Newfoundland Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2012 and 2013, Ocean Remote Sensing Tednologes: HidFrequency, EEE Joumal of SelecterTooics in Anolied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, editor-in-chief of Marne and GNSS-Based Radar, Guest editor E(EFE Canadian Joumnal of ElectrictandComoter Eroineering)EEE Geoscience and Remote Sensina Letters) .EEE oumal of Deputy editor of several journals such as OcearEngineerino, as well as reviewer of more than 100 international journals and TPC member and paper reviewer of several IEEE national conferences, such as EEE Radar Conference, International Symposium on Earth Science and Encounter Sensing, Ocean Conference, etc. From 2018 to 2021, he served as the evaluation expert and leader of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Evaluation Team of the Natural Science and Engineering Foundation (NSEBO). Who won the 2017 NSERC DiscoverveleratoSupplements award, as well as the IEEE geoscience and remote sensing society 2019 Letters Prize PapAward and other teaching and research award. Named to Stanford University's "Top 2% of the World's Top Scientists in 2021" list.
Brief introduction to the report
This report mainly focuses on the latest research achievements in the field of Marine remote sensing based on X-band navigation radar, and focuses on the research of using deep learning to detect rainfall, identify rain areas, estimate sea surface wind, and extract wave information, etc. It will also describe the current difficulties in this field and the future development direction
